“Light Space” is the first art institution in China to combine an art museum with a bookstore. During the planning process, the One-tenth team activated a 400,000-square-meter commercial complex with a 4,000-square-meter cultural and art space, creating a new business model of “cultural consumption” and transforming the original community supporting business into a regional consumption destination. Mr. Tadao Ando designs the entire space, including Xinhua Bookstore on 7F and Pearl Art Museum on 8F of Xinhua Red Star Aegean Place. The space builds a platform for urban culture and art exchange and dialogue through a unique sense of spatial experience, and leads Shanghai’s literary life with a unique style.
